In Thai culture, the elephant is a sacred symbol which represents royalty, wisdom and good fortune. Local Aeravida artisan Khun Watsud from Thailand handcrafted this charming sterling silver bracelet which features a mother elephant marching proudly behind her baby. This bracelet is made from polished sterling silver .925 with a 6.5 inch cable chain with round spring ring clasp. This charming bracelet makes for a great tennis bracelet and can be worn casually by young girls and women of all ages.
Artisan Somchai is a relative of another featured artisan, he is the brother-in-law of artisan Watsud. Together with his family, the business has enjoyed success and they have been able to expand the business further. Working closely with Preeda, his loving wife, Somchai has opened a new workshop in Bangkok. Coming from a long line of jewelry designers, Somchai learned the craft from his grandmother, who was a member of the Karen Hill Tribe. She was a great influence on his life and Somchai pays tribute to his heritage through his beautiful designs. We here at AeraVida love the versatility of his jewelry because you can wear his pieces anywhere and with just about anything.
“The tradition of my grandmother lives on in my work and I am grateful for the many things she taught me. I would spend hours and hours just talking and learning from her. She is a great inspiration for my original jewelry. I do not limit my style to just traditional designs, but I look everywhere for ideas. Even though the foundation of my work is rooted in tradition, I love to expand my designs and experiment with different techniques. I hope that this partnership with AeraVida continues to bring success to my family. Working with my loved ones brings me great happiness and fulfillment.”
