Ying was born and raised in Bangkok, Thailand but her family is originally from northern Thailand. Every year Ying would visit her family. It was on these trips that she fell in love with Lanna, the symbol of northern Thailand's culture and way of life. She began to study the cultural heritage and arts of her ancestors. She soon found her calling as a jewelry designer finding inspiration from both old Lanna culture and the new urban idiosyncrasies from the City. With the help of family, Ying opened a small store in Bangkok where she can showcase her designs.
