Khun Daw is a hardworking artisan who comes from humble beginnings. She grew up in the town of Surat Thani in southern Thailand, which is a town on the coast. Traditionally, the families that live in this area support themselves by working on coconut farms. Her parents worked very hard to earn enough money to send her to college, where K’Daw excelled. After finishing college, she found work at a fine jewelry store in Bangkok, and this is where she started learning how to design her own pieces. K’Daw saved as much as she could and was finally able to branch out on her own. Together with her husband Sap, she now owns a small silver workshop in Bangkok. Her designs incorporate beautiful colors with intricate patterns, that are inspired by what she sees in her everyday life. K’Daw’s jewelry is honest and elegant, making for gorgeous handcrafted sterling silver jewelry.
“My jewelry designs are inspired by the world around me. I love flowers and I have a rather large garden area in my home. I love the colorful flowers that grow there, life is so full of vibrant color. I also like the patterns I see in modern buildings and in art, which makes for a beautiful contrast with nature. I use colorful stone and sterling silver as my tools. I have learned to find beauty and inspiration in the world around me, and this makes me happy with the simple things in life. I hope that my jewelry inspires you to see the beauty of our world and to appreciate being alive.” -Khun Daw
